Beginner TV1 Tuesday 5:30-6:45pm
No prior study experience necessary. We cover everyday expressions and phrases, introductions and simple questions, all applied to travel situations. Students will study hiragana, watch video and prepare grammar for homework.
Beginner TV2 Tuesday 7-8:15pm
Talk about daily life, plans for activities present and past, asking questions and giving invitations all applied to travel. Students must know hiragana, and we introduce katakana. Homework includes video, writing practice and workbook study.
Beginner TV3 Thursday 5:30-6:45pm
Describing things, share impressions, location directions, shopping and sightseeing. Students will have solid comfort with hiragana and katakana. Homework includes workbook study, comprehension reading, kanji study and video.
Beginner TV4 Thursday 7-8:15pm
Students communicate in detail about daily life and travel situations, cultural appropriateness in question-making, and talk in a variety of tenses. Students MUST be comfortable with hiragana and katakana and some basic kanji.
JASO Membership
Class study at JASO is a benefit of membership, so you or your company must be a current JASO member to participate. All membership details at www.jaso.org. Classes are for ADULTS. It's unlikely that we'll allow you and your child into class, but you can call 503-552-8813 if you believe your child won't disturb other students.
Group Class Information
Small group classes run 10 weeks total, 75-minute classes (12.5 hrs contact time). Maximum 10 students. Minimum 4 needed for class to run. Classes held at 900 SW Fifth Avenue, Suite 1810, Portland, OR 97204.
Week 1 starts from Monday September 21, Week 10 finishes Friday December 4. No classes Thanksgiving week.
Process
Sign-up online. Select your class. Pay the fee.
We make every effort to ensure you are placed correctly. Follow the course description SPECIFICALLY when signing up. We reserve the right to move you after first class. We also want you to talk to us if you think you need to move.
Refund Policy
Course will run with minimum 4 students signing up. If course does not run, 100% of fees refunded. Cancellation after September 15, no refund if your cancellation causes numbers to drop below 4 in total. 50% refund otherwise. Refund processed after classes start. We will communicate with you as sign-up windows close regarding number of sign-ups.
We understand business people sometimes have commitments that cause them to miss class. Many students end up missing 1 or 2 classes because of this. We do not give refunds because “life/work became busy”.
