Andrea Obana was born in Kobe, Japan, and grew up in a bilingual, bicultural household where she was lucky enough to be directly underfoot to both her mother and grandmother in their kitchens. A foodie from an early age, she has always felt most comfortable in a kitchen (her own or anybody else's!). A long time resident of the bountiful West Coast of the United States, she strives to make Japanese cooking accessible to non Japanese cooks by blending traditional techniques with fresh, local foods.
