Join JASO Next for a Japanese cooking class online with Andrea Obana. Together we'll learn how to prepare a main dish of oyako-don, along with shio-koji vegetable soup and eggplant and tomato saute with wafu marinade. We'll send you the simple ingredient list as soon as your registration is confirmed. ALL ingredients are available at Uwajimaya in Beaverton (or if you're not close by) may be found at other Asian supermarkets, so take your list and have fun shopping there! Vegetarian and vegan alternative ingredients are also listed. Simply have your ingredients on hand when you join us from your kitchen (!) on Zoom. You can prepare with Andrea and cook in real-time, or just listen and take notes.
Our instructor, Andrea Obana, was born in Kobe and grew up in a bilingual, bi-cultural household where she was lucky enough to always be underfoot her mother and grandmother in their kitchens. A foodie from an early age, she's always felt most at home in the kitchen - hers or anybody else's! Andrea is a long-time resident on the US west coast, where she strives to make Japanese cooking accessible to non-Japanese cooks by blending traditional techniques with fresh, local foods.
