Are you a Japanese, Japanese-American or API female, and looking to break that bamboo ceiling?
Come join our fireside chat with Mari Watanabe, executive director of Partners in Diversity and co-chair of JASO’s Women’s Leadership Council, about her experiences as a minority female in climbing the corporate ladder. This is your space to share your challenges, your successes, at work. You may be a leader, aspire to leadership, or simply want to better understand how your cultural heritage influences your workplace.
JASO’s Women’s Leadership Council is starting regular get togethers to support Japanese, Japanese-American, and API heritage women, to meet with local leaders and to discuss best practices in growing your leadership skills.
Mari Watanabe has been the executive director of the award winning nonprofit Partners in Diversity, a non-profit whose mission is to help employers racially diversify their workforce in Oregon and southwest Washington. Up until November 2019, Mari split her time between Partners in Diversity and Leadership Portland, a 10-month civic engagement leadership program operated by the Portland Business Alliance, the region’s chamber of commerce.
Program runs 5-6pm on Thursday, November 18
Chat Moderator: Kyoko Zuch, WLC Co-Chair, Puppet Labs
Guest Speaker: Mari Watanabe, WLC Co-Chair, Partners in Diversity
After a welcome to all, Mari will discuss two different topics. After each topic, attendees will move to breakout rooms to talk more, and share their own insights and experiences. Then, as a group, we'll move to a more general Q&A-based discussion together.
