Beginner - Tuesdays from 5:30pm to 7pm, January 23 to March 13 - 8 weeks
Intermediate - Tuesdays from 7:10pm to 8:40pm, January 23 to March 13 - 8 weeks

Advanced - Wednesdays from 6pm to 7:30pm, January 24 to March 14 - 8weeks

Instructor: Chie Furukawa, MA in Foreign Languages, PSU; Japanese Language Teaching Certificate, PSU. Japanese Language teaching experience at PSU, Vanderbilt University & Wellesley College.

Description
JASO has prepared 3 different courses in Japanese language for general and business purposes.
No course will be held with less than 4 students committing. Each course has 8 classes, 90 minutes/class. 12 hrs total.

Our goal is to create year-round study opportunities for motivated Japanese language learners. We plan to hold similar courses from April-June, and September-November. Separately, if you would like a Japanese language tutor to visit your company directly, or teach you privately, please contact the office for rates.

Course Fees:
Members - pay on or before January 12, $300; pay January 13 - 19, $350
Non-Members - pay $425.

Refund policy: Course will run with minimum 4 students signing up. If course does not run, 100% of fees refunded. Cancellation after January 12, no refund if your cancellation causes numbers to drop below 4 total. 50% refund otherwise. Refund processed after classes start.

Program Description
JASO
offers original Japanese business language and culture courses that are designed to enhance linguistic and cultural proficiency.  These courses focus on developing the practical competence necessary to communicate with native speakers in a culturally appropriate manner, particularly in the business arena.  Students will learn how to handle real-life situations using Japanese and express themselves as they desire.

Each course meets once a week for ninety minutes over 8 weeks.  A minimum two hours of preparation each week is expected.

Course Descriptions 

Beginning Japanese for Business & Daily Life
This course is designed for new students of Japanese as well as those who are interested in improving their conversational skills. The course focuses on oral communication in a culturally appropriate manner, with pronunciation and a level of accuracy that facilitates natural interaction with native speakers. Participants will be introduced to the basic reading and writing of Katakana syllabary.

Intermediate Japanese for Business
This course is for those who have completed minimum of two years of formal language instruction or the equivalent and are familiar with the basic grammar patterns. The course focuses on oral communication in a culturally appropriate manner, with pronunciation and a level of accuracy that facilitates natural interaction with native speakers. Areas of focus will be determined based on participants’ needs.  

Advanced-Intermediate Japanese for Business: Selected Topics
This course is for those who have solid level competency in Japanese and would like to improve their interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational skills further for business purposes. Course content will be determined based on participant’s needs, incorporating the vocabulary, grammar, and cultural and business information specific to their communication goals.
