JASO has prepared 3 different courses in Japanese language for business purposes this summer.
No course will be held with less than 5 students committing. Each course has 8 classes, 2hrs/class. 16 hrs total.
Beginners class will be held Tuesdays July 11 - August 29.
Intermediate class will be held Wednesdays July 12 - August 30.
Advanced-Intermediate will be held Thursdays July 13 - August 31.
Course Fees:
Members - pay on or before June 16, $325, pay June 17 - June 26, $355
Non-Members - pay $450.

Refund policy: Course will only run with minimum 5 students signing up. If course does not run, 100% of fees refunded. Cancellation after June 26, no refund if your cancellation causes numbers to drop below 5 total. 50% refund otherwise. Refund processed after classes start.
Program Description
JASO offers original Japanese business language and culture courses that are designed to enhance linguistic and cultural proficiency. These courses focus on developing the practical competence necessary to communicate with native speakers in a culturally appropriate manner, particularly in the business arena. Students will learn how to handle real-life situations using Japanese and express themselves as they desire.
Each course meets once a week for two hours over 8 weeks. Online audio files are used extensively in preparation. A minimum two hours of preparation each week is expected.
Course Descriptions
Beginning Japanese for Business 1 (BJB 1)
This course is designed for new students of Japanese as well as those who are interested in improving their conversational skills. The course focuses on oral communication in a culturally appropriate manner, with pronunciation and a level of accuracy that facilitates natural interaction with native speakers. Participants will practice greetings and ritual expressions, introducing themselves, exchanging business cards, talking about people, places, daily activities, schedules, food and drinks, and shopping. Participants will be introduced to the basic reading and writing of Katakana syllabary.
Intermediate Japanese for Business 1 (IJB 1)
This course is for those who have completed minimum of two years of formal language instruction or the equivalent and are familiar with the basic grammar patterns. The course focuses on oral communication in a culturally appropriate manner, with pronunciation and a level of accuracy that facilitates natural interaction with native speakers. Areas of focus will be determined based on participants’ needs.
Advanced-Intermediate Japanese for Business: Selected Topics (AIJB 1)
This course is for those who have solid intermediate level competency in Japanese and would like to improve their interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational skills further for business purposes. Course content will be determined based on participant’s needs, incorporating the vocabulary, grammar, and cultural and business information specific to their communication goals.
For Intermediate and Advanced-Intermediate classes, we expect to select topics from areas such as The Economy – Social & Economic Trends; Business & Industry description and practices; and so on.
